Final_final build - saying bye to stripes and intricate 8 direction cat animation, obligatory controller support



This is our first and last devlog on this project (final_final)

Since the Spring game jam at Matfyz, we had plans to make povidla into a much larger world.

Think about it! So many options in this playground! I pestered mavlac about making the cat climb trees, so she could look out over the forest. She would be also getting all blue and muddy from stomping around in the puddles.  If blue and wet, she would get thistles stuck to her back...

I also wanted the cat to feel more like liquid, so I reworked most of the animations to feel more fluid. Then got the idea to make more states, so we could see her running from the back and to the front... And then it turned out that 4 directions is not enough, so like.. do we do 8 now!? 

Nah.

Through all the big dreams we had, we found  that simplicity is what makes povidla the most fun. We ended up removing some stuff, like the cat's stripes, which makes her harder to find :)

As usual, polishing the game took us more time than we spent at the jam developing it. The changes are minimal and not very noticeable by themselves, but make all the difference in the finished thing. Thanks to mavlac, you get some quality updates (the cat now also rides away on the scooter,), tiny changes and bug fixes (no more running outside of bounds for you), better pErFOrMaNcE (misty forest is magical) and controller support (with rumble on desktop - will upload soon).

So here you go, a very small update, at least from your perspective!
